Sleaford's young talent help toward successful 'A bag for Sleaford Future' launch

After the hugely successful 'A bag for Sleaford Future' launch in the market place back in May, when over 3,000 cotton bags were given away free, the partnership is continuing its campaign for a sustainable Sleaford. The next phase of the campaign is two-fold; Point-of-sale materials for retailers is currently being designed for display in shops, with the message 'A Partnership of retailers and others seeking to build a better town'. The aim of this is to remind retailers to ask customers if they really need a carrier bag - this in turn will help us all to protect the environment by having less plastic bags given out by shops in Sleaford.

The second part of the next phase is focussed on the new design cotton bags to be given away later in the year, encouraging us all to have a sustainable Christmas by carrying your 'Christmas cotton bag' whilst shopping.

The competition to create a design for the limited-edition Christmas cotton bags began at the launch in May. Sleaford BID was represented at the judging of the competition, which had an excellent response, last month. The winners of the two age groups (5-11 and 12-16 years) will shortly be announced from six short-listed entries with the victors being presented with their prizes - a brand-new mountain bike for each of the winners, kindly sponsored by Lincolnshire Co-operative.
