Car Parking & Traffic Management

The challenge - Sleaford needs more parking spaces, more free parking and reduced long-term charges and less traffic congestion. These are inter-related issues which need a body like the BID Board, to co-ordinate action, promote the interests of local businesses to the relevant authorities and exert pressure to get things done. We have seen just recently the difficulties, business losses, frustration, anger and adverse publicity that traffic problems are causing in Boston - we cannot let Sleaford go the same way.

So how are we doing? The BID car parking group has joined forces with the Sleaford visioning group to form a combined working party to look at parking and traffic issues in Sleaford. It was decided that a new study should be undertaken in the town resulting in a report to inform all the partners of the way forward. NKDC, STC, BID and Chamber have now come up with terms of reference for the study and the timeline for when this will be done. It is crucial that businesses have their say on traffic management decisions, so again we urge you to email us with your thoughts and concerns on these matters, and we can take your ideas to the greater partnership for inclusion.
