Car Parking & Traffic Management
The Car Parking & Traffic Management priority is quite a challenge in a small market town such as Sleaford. However, some success has been achieved in reducing long term parking costs in Sleaford. Alternative methods of addressing this subject have been put in place such as free parking initiatives and cycle storage solutions.
Cycle Storage Solutions The BID has, by working in partnership with North Kesteven District Council and Lincolnshire County Council installed cycle storage in Sleaford. This includes, a covered shelter, cycle racks and secure, dry cycle lockers. All are free of charge to use, except the cycle lockers which are run on a permit basis through the Business Improvement District see download page for details.
Strategy A full car parking strategy was commissioned by North Kesteven District Council and Lincolnshire County Council with the BID acting as consultees. This has now been completed and recommends a host of measures to improve transportation around the town.
Festive Friday Parking This fantastic promotion provided Christmas shoppers with free parking on Fridays in December, allowing tills to ring in the town.
Free INTO Town Travel The BID sponsored the INTO town buses to provide free transport for Christmas Shoppers in conjunction with Sleafordian coaches. Between the two organisations free transport was provided on all Saturdays in December.
